Did Verizon Stop Testing BlackBerry OS6 Builds On The Storm2 9550?

Filed in BlackBerry , Mobile , RIM , Rumors 15 comments

Not in surprisingly shocking fashion, we just received word today from a reliable informant that Verizon, which did have some BlackBerry 6 builds in testing, has since stopped and will probably wait until either a Storm2 reboot and/or a Storm3 is revealed.  Reasoning?  You can bet the 256MB of RAM is one of them, as well as other factors.  As said its not a shocker, but its sad for Storm2 users that were hoping to get some OS6 goodness.  Lets hope this bit of info is wrong for those of you sticking it out with your Storm2’s.

UPDATE: For those that have emailed asking, we agree.  We hope this is not true.  Lets hope the testing stopped for other reasons, such as waiting on a specific build.  For now, this is the info that we have though.

I agree with Ryan. I love the 9800, but AT&T. Really? Ugh..

looks like I will be leaving BB and go with Android. BB has droped the ball and let Android and Apple move way ahead in what the customers want.
  • With better EAS support in Froyo, you can bet corporate America will start moving to Android as well.
  • Joking about the test thing. I just don't like AT&T
  • Does this make me happy, no. But my 9550 is already showing some wear and tear. I do hope they plan to release a "touch" device in time to support 6 once it surfaces. I still have my eyes set on the 9800 however I will not support AT&T unless they toss us some devices to test. Awesome info Bryan.
  • Thanks! I only report on what I'm told, and only from people I trust. Lets just hope its temporary for Storm2 users.
