Rumors of RIMM looking to get bought have been going on for months, if not even longer in private within the company.  Everyone knows they are in trouble.  With a failed BlackBerry OS 7 device launch and lineup to the Playbook having all sorts of fail, lined up with the news that its likely only one BlackBerry 10 device at some point in the future, whenever that may be, put them in the “high risk factor” for investors.

We ask you guys and gals, do you think that RIM will be sold off, either partially or fully this year?

Breaking Rumor: Microsoft and Nokia Teaming up To Buy RIM

by Bryan Bellino - on Dec 21st 2011 - 2 Comments

This one is hot off the press, and it comes straight from the Wall Street Journal.  According to people familiar with the matter it would appear that Microsoft and Nokia talked about a joint venture to buy Research in Motion (RIMM).  While they do not know the current status of these talks the fact remains that if they even took place is huge.  RIM as we all know has been taking a beating as of late, with a declining stock over the course of 2011 and very underwhelming device’s.  Even their BlackBerry 10 devices, now looking to launch in late 2012/2013, will already be under powered compared to their Android and iPhone counterparts.

RIM Has Burned Half Its Cash Since Last Quarter

by Bryan Bellino - on Oct 6th 2011 - 2 Comments

RIM has always noted in their earnings call’s or company updates that they have cash, something not a lot of corporations today can say they have.  The problem?  Since the second quarter of this year they have burned through half… take a deep breath… half of that cash.  $1.5 billion to be exact.  After paying $1.5 billion on patents as part of the RockStar Consortium with Apple and Microsoft they are left with a cool $1.4 billion.  That $1.4 billion reserve is declining though, and in a hurry.  With huge inventories of PlayBooks piled in warehouses, second-quarter cash flow turned negative, and investors feeling very grim about the next generation of BlackBerry smartphones (we dont buy the hype of calling them superphones) it looks like more and more will be turning away from RIM.  They only have so much time, folks.  You can take a look at those BlackBerry blog’s and read about their glass half full mentality, but the reality of it is, RIM needs a buyer or it will go the way of Palm.

Tottenham MP David Lammy Asks RIM To Turn Off BBM During London Riots

by Bryan Bellino - on Aug 9th 2011 - No Comments

This just in from our Tip Line it looks like the Tottenham Member of Parliament David Lammy thinks that shutting down some social networks, including the very popular BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) found on BlackBerry’s, could help in stopping the riots currently happening in and around London.  While I agree social media very well helps the rioter’s keep in touch and plan attacks easier, shutting down ANY social network will only anger people more.  We will see if RIM gives any statement throughout the day.

Thanks Gary!
