Reach Out And Touch Me With Touch For iPhone, Android, iPad, BlackBerry

by Krista - on Dec 6th 2011 - 3 Comments

When it comes to IM or chatting apps on smartphones they are a dime a dozen.  Blackberry users have BBM built in, iPhone users have iMessage, and Android folks have Google Talk.  Not all of these are interchangeable, assuming you have friends and family that use different phones and platforms.  Thats where multi-platform IM apps come in, and Touch is actually NOT the newest on the block.

With over 12 million users Touch, or formally known as PingChat!, is a complete redesign from the old app.  Gone is the iPhone looking pale UI.  The new UI looks fresh, exciting, and is home to a lot of really nice features.  You can add friends via email address if they have Android, iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Blackberry.  Some cool features include seeing when people are typing to you, sent/delivered notifications, push messaging to save on data costs and have instant delivery, as well as much more.

Give it a try at www.touch.com  If you decide to give it a try add me!  Use my email: [email protected] and add the leader of GF Bryan: [email protected]

BlackBerry Maker RIM Now Officially In Trouble, Shares Dip Below Book Value

by Bryan Bellino - on Nov 2nd 2011 - No Comments

Today just brings in more bad news for RIM, something it desperately does not need.  As of the time of this post, RIMM shares are now below the $20 dollar mark, at $18.87 to be more precise.  The last time RIMM shares were at this price was 2004.   Veritas analyst Neeraj Monga told The Globe and Mail:

Clearly, it’s now single-digit market share in the United States — soon, I think it will be single-digit worldwide.

At $18.87 per share RIM is now below its book value of $18.92 at the end of last quarter, according to Bloomberg.  The iPhone and devices running Google Inc.’s Android operating system are obliterating RIM’s share in markets around the world. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., which uses Android, is now the No. 1 smart phone in Asia-Pacific, Western Europe and even Latin America, which is one of RIM’s strongest markets.

Guest Post: Why RIM can’t give up on the PlayBook

by Guest Post - on Oct 27th 2011 - 1 Comment

When is it time to admit a product’s failure and cut bait? For RIM, six months isn’t quite long enough. Not long ago rumors circulated that they were set to discontinue the BlackBerry PlayBook, their disappointing initial tablet offering. RIM shot down those rumors with vehemence, calling them “pure fiction.” While that might not be a huge deal right now, it will mean a lot for the future of RIM. They absolutely cannot afford to back out of the tablet market right now. There’s just too much for them to gain. (more…)
